Certifications

SPORTS INJURY CERTIFICATION

Dr. Treinen has attained a Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner (C.C.E.P.). This Palmer College of Chiropractic sponsored certification program warrants that he has completed an accredited course of post-graduate study and clinical work in the care and treatment and management of extremity injuries. This sports injury course is the culmination of research conducted on thousands of athletic cases including high school, college, professional and Olympic athletes.

This series of classes began with a weekend studying the foot, the next weekend class studied the ankle, the next the knee, and in succession the hip joint, the shoulder, elbow, wrist, jaw, and ribs. Then he passed all the tests to be certified under the authority of the Council on Extremity Adjusting. Common conditions, such as carpal tunnel syndrome (numbness/pain in hands), shoulder and elbow pain, rib pain, jaw pain or clicking or popping (also known as TMJ dysfunction), hip, knee, and feet pain, all typically respond remarkably well with the treatment protocols provided in this course.

AUTOMOBILE CRASH RECONSTRUCTION CERTIFICATION

Dr. Treinen has also attained certification for Low Speed Rear Impact Automobile Crash Reconstruction. This accredited post-graduate course is an auto crash reconstructionist (ACR) program offered by Spine Research Institute of San Diego in conjunction with the Engineering Extension Service of Texas A&M University System. This program provides firsthand experience of actual full-scale, human volunteer crash testing of various types of crashes with various types of human volunteers and crash test dummies so that we can better understand how people can get hurt in car crashes. In these studies the vehicles, the human volunteers, and the crash test dummies are all hooked-up to multiple accelerometers and then the actual crashes are recorded with high-speed video cameras. Before and after the crashes the vehicles and the human subjects are studied extensively to determine what damage/injuries are sustained from the given crashes. The data from the accelerometers is collected and compared with the vehicular damages and reviewed through the lenses of the high-speed video cameras. This is the only such course conducted in the world. Completion of this course certifies that its graduates have cutting edge knowledge into how occupants sustain injury in auto crashes.

ADVANCED WHIPLASH TRAUMATOLOGY CERTIFICATION

Dr. Treinen has attained Certificate of Competency in Advanced Whiplash and Brain Traumatology. This Spine Research Institute of San Diego accredited post-graduate course sponsored by the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic reviews and critiques the very latest is whiplash related research. Credentialing from this course earns a place among the elite whiplash traumatology experts.

WHIPLASH TRAUMATOLOGY

Dr. Treinen is certified to treat automobile crash injuries through his completion of WHIPLASH: the Masters’ Certification Program. This is an accredited post-graduate advanced course of study in the diagnosis and clinical management of cervical acceleration/deceleration trauma (whiplash) and whiplash related temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. This Spine Research Institute of San Diego accredited post-graduate course, sponsored by Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, taught advanced understanding of crash test, biomechanics, occupant kinematics in crashes (movement of body and body parts in crashing vehicles), mechanisms of injury, relative forces, safety systems, human factors, vehicle variables, Classical Newtonian physics, conservation of momentum, vehicle dynamics, and most (if not all) of the current knowledge concerning the myriad of soft tissue and other injuries, and much more. In short, this course emphasized about everything a chiropractor needs to know in designing and implementing a treatment plan to optimize healing and restoration of function for those who have sustained injuries in automobile crashes.
